Peer-Support Groups

Friendly, informal and confidential weekly PSGs in Stoke on Trent (for children and young people aged 5 to 18 years)

Peer Support Groups are friendly, informal, confidential meetings where you can talk about issues impacting your emotional wellbeing and join together with people of your own age to share experiences and support each other’s wellbeing.

PSG meetings follow a structure, provide a safe space for you to talk about anything affecting your emotional wellbeing and a chance to learn Changes 12 steps.

Developed by young people, Changes 12-steps teaches you how to build on your strengths and make small changes that can help you manage and improve your wellbeing.

Access to the group is open-ended – you can attend for as long as you want – your group is always there for you when you need it…

Meetings also provide the opportunity to share your knowledge and experience to help others (in peer-support you are both the ‘helped’ and ‘helper’).

‘I wasn’t sure about attending the group, I was anxious and my mood was low – and I really didn’t want to be around people… I’m glad that I did, going against how I felt and turning up at the meeting, proved to be the start of my recovery.  I was amazed at how quickly I settled down and connected with the people who were there and how good it felt to talk to those going through the same things as me…  Soon I felt part of something… learning and sharing tips on how cope and manage my anxiety and depression’ Stay Well Service User
